About Us
Our History
The Ringwood Art Society was started over 50 years ago in 1966 by an enthusiastic group of local artists. They initially used their own homes before progressing to several other venues as their numbers grew and the varied interests needed a more permanent space.
Our members have included well known artists as well as several life members. The enthusiasm of the formation group continues today with a vibrant and energetic society eager to embrace new ideas and methods.
When Do We Meet
We meet on the second Monday of the month, starting at 7.00pm in the meeting rooms.
These meetings start with general business of the society and then quickly proceed to a demonstration in art by a prominent artist. This meeting is also an opportunity for members to display their work in the Members Showcase, which is judged by the demonstrating artist. It’s a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in joining to see what’s happening … introduce yourself at the door so that we can make you welcome. Guests are welcome to attend for a small fee.
Where Are We Located
We are located at the Maroondah Federation Estate, Greenwood Avenue Ringwood. This has become an art hub of the shire, housing the Access Gallery, the venue for many exhibitions of prominent artists and societies.
